Seminole State celebrates student success with hybrid, drive-through graduation
The College awarded more than 2,000 degrees, certificates and diplomas this fall.
SANFORD, Fla. (Dec. 14, 2021) – Following the success and positive feedback from its first two hybrid, drive-through graduations in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, Seminole State College of Florida once again celebrated student success on Tuesday, Dec. 14, with a ceremony in the same format for its Fall 2021 graduates. The College awarded more than 2,000 degrees, certificates and diplomas to 1,845 students this term.
Graduates and their families arrived in their vehicles, some decorated for the occasion, driving through a marked path featuring balloon arches, congratulatory signs and photo op areas. Graduates exited their vehicles and donned caps and gowns for their moment in the spotlight, crossing the stage to be recognized for their achievement as their family members looked on.
With precautions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, graduates took formal photos in their regalia after exiting the stage. They then rejoined their families and continued on the path to take pictures and sign a commemorative wall in designated photo areas.
“Graduation is such an exciting time for our entire College community,” said Seminole State President Dr. Georgia Lorenz. “We are immensely proud of our students and can’t wait to see them GO Far as they continue their education or enter the workforce.”
Graduates from Summer Term 2021 were also invited to participate in the fall ceremony, giving them a chance to receive formal recognition for their accomplishment earlier in the year. More than 600 students participated in the event.
